ISLAMIC JIHAD CALLS FOR PALESTINE’S INTENSIVE RECONCILIATION
Gaza City, 29 JumadIl Awwal 1435/30 March 2014 (MINA) – Palestine’s resistance group Islamic Jihad spokesman, Dr. Khalid Al-Batsh, said that his party fully support Palestinian reconciliation movements to be intensified.
He said the unity of the Palestinian factions must be immediately continued in order to realize the freedom of Al-Aqsa mosque and Palestine.
“What is needed now is applying the agreements that have been agreed upon during previous meetings,” Al-Batsh told Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s correspondent in the Gaza Strip, as reported on Sunday (30/3).
Al-Batsh said Islamic Jihad movement outlines steps in forming national unity begins with bringing together both agencies and ministries as well as synchronize perception of the resistance, then proceed its points at the previous deals.
Al-Batsh also stressed the reconciliation is urgently needed as Israel continues its Judaization project on one of greatest mosque Muslims have, Al-Aqsa mosque. He also call for rejection of US-mediated negotiation with Israel, as Israel keep violating the deals.
He called for Palestinian movements unity and asked for more reconciliation meetings on a regular basis so that a national consensus can be accomplished.
Divisions Adding Suffering
Al-Batsh, who also Chairs Gazan “Committee of Freedom” established under the Palestinian reconciliation agreement in 2011, emphasized the split between Hamas and Fatah only adding to the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The divisions between Fatah and Hamas began in 2006, when Hamas won the Palestinian legislative elections. In the following year, clashes erupted between the two major Palestinian factions. Hamas seized the Gaza Strip and Fatah controls the West Bank.
Thus, Al-Batsh said that until now Palestine has two prime ministers, Ismail Haniyeh is in the Gaza Strip and Rami Hamdallah in the West Bank. The existence of these conditions make each ministerial departments located in two regions, so that the result occurs in the continuous blockade of the Gaza Strip.
The Senior official of Islamic Jihad noted, at the time Palestine occupied by the divisions on its internal, the Israeli occupation take it for granted by calling for thousands of Jewish extremists to occupy al-Quds (Jerusalem), launched a full Judaization of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa and to build synagogues and Talmudic garden as well as illegal Jewish settlements in the surrounding area.
