IRANIAN DELEGATION ATTENDS P5+1 NUCLEAR TALKS IN ALMATY

        Almaty, Kazakhstan, 17 Rabi’ul Akhir 1434/27 February 2013 (MINA) – The Iranian delegation for talks with the P5+1 group arrives in Kazakhstan.
The delegation arrived in Almaty on Sunday for the talks, which was sterted on Tuesday.
       The talks will cover a range of topics including Iran’s nuclear energy program, according to Press TV reports monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Wednesday.
       Iran and the P5+1 group have held several rounds of talks with a focus on Iran’s nuclear energy program. The last round of negotiations between Iran and the P5+1 group was held in Moscow in June 2012.
      The Iranian negotiating delegation in the Moscow talks was led by Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), Saeed Jalili and the P5+1 group headed by EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.
      The United States, Israel, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.
      Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a committed signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
      In addition, the IAEA has conducted numerous inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence showing that Iran’s civilian nuclear program has been diverted to nuclear weapons production.

The western propaganda on Iran’s nuclear energy program

        A political activist says US-led Western allegations against Iran’s nuclear energy program are “false propaganda” and “lies,” Press TV reports.
      “These [allegations] are propaganda slogans that have been pitched at Iran, [and] were [previously] pitched at Iraq. They’re pitched at any country that our leaders [US government] decide to call an enemy at that moment,” member of the Washington-based Code Pink, Tighe Barry, said in an interview with Press TV on Sunday.
       Referring to the latest report by the International Atomic Energy Agency on Iran’s nuclear program which found no evidence of military diversion, Barry said the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) believes there will be a solution to Iran’s nuclear issue “if there is a calm and propaganda-free environment to have discussions.”
       Iran and the P5+1 — Britain, China, France, Russia, and the United States plus Germany — have agreed to hold the next round of talks in Kazakhstan on February 26.
       “I would like to see the United States go to this meeting in Kazakhstan and say we are going to start dismantling our nuclear weapons,” Barry said commenting on the upcoming talks in Kazakhstan.

Tehran has categorically rejected the allegation, arguing that as a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
