Iran Vows to Fight Until Enemy Feels ‘Genuine Regret’ to Secure Lasting Deterrence

Tehran, MINA – Iran has stated that it will continue fighting until what it describes as the enemy reaches a point of regret, asserting that this is necessary to prevent any future attacks.

Iranian Army spokesman Mohammad Akrami Nia said in a press statement on Monday that the objective of continuing the war is to ensure long-term deterrence, according to reports carried by the semi-official Fars News Agency. He claimed that the United States and Israel failed to achieve their objectives in the war against Iran, asserting that they were “effectively defeated.”

Akrami Nia added that prolonging the conflict aims to push the adversary to a stage of “genuine regret,” describing this approach as grounded in strategic rationality rather than emotion. He emphasized that achieving this level of deterrence would ensure that the enemy “will not dare to act against the country again,” framing it as a necessary condition to prevent the recurrence of war.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged of ongoing diplomatic efforts, with the American news outlet Axios indicating that the United States, Iran, and regional mediators are discussing the possibility of a 45-day truce, aimed at opening the door for negotiations toward a longer-term agreement.[]
