INDONESIAN FM TO MEET UNSC PRESIDENT TO DISCUSS EGYPT SITUATION

         Cairo, 14 Shawwal 1434/21 August, 2013 (MINA) – Indonesian Foreign Minister Affairs, Marty Natalegawa is scheduled to meet with the president of the UN Security Council in New York on Thursday (22/8) to discuss recent world problems, including the violent in Egypt which until now is still alarming.

        Marty left on Tuesday afternoon (20/8) and is scheduled to meet with the President of the UN Security Council, María Cristina Perceval from Argentina, in a series of working visits to Ottawa, UN Headquarters in New York and Beijing, according to Foreign Ministry release quoted by MINA ( Mi’raj News Agency).

         Previously, addressing the deteriorating situation in Egypt, Marty said the international community should continue to support the efforts of reconciliation between the parties in Egypt and urged the cessation of violence against humanity.

         Marty also scheduled to meet with the Deputy Secretary-General, Jan Kenneth Eliasson on 26 August 2013 and will discuss the efforts that can be done by UN in addressing today’s global problems, such as Syria and Egypt.

         In addition, officials will also discuss the UN’s efforts to prepare for the global development agenda after 2015. In a meeting with the Deputy Secretary General of the UN, Marty will also discuss the preparations for Indonesia to host the gathering of the “Alliance of Civilizations” in 2014.

         In a series of visits, Marty will make visit to Ottawa, 22-23 August 2013. He will lead the meeting of 3rd Joint Commission Forum Indonesia-Canada. The first meeting was at the level of Foreign Ministers and the previous meeting of the Joint Commission Forum was conducted at the level of senior officials.

         Marty will also discuss the priorities of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and Canada including cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, democracy and human rights as well as the cooperation of cross-border crime prevention.

         In particular, Indonesian Foreign Minister and Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs will discuss the preparation of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s visit to Indonesia in December 2013. Canadian Prime Minister will be received by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) on a state visit in Jakarta. (T/P05/E1)
