Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono on Tuesday led the handover ceremony of the late Zetro Leonardo Purba, an official of the Indonesian Embassy in Peru who was killed in a shooting incident in Lima on September 1, 2025.
The ceremony took place at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, where the foreign minister officially handed over the remains from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the bereaved family.
In his remarks, Sugiono expressed deep condolences over Purba’s passing and paid high tribute to his dedication and service while representing Indonesia abroad.
The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, continues to coordinate with Peruvian authorities regarding the handling of the case, including ensuring security for embassy staff in Lima.

Before burial, the late diplomat’s body will be laid in state and receive final honors at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. []
