Indonesia Wooden Sculpture Souvenir Enthused In Russia

London, 27 Rajab 1437/5 May 2016 (MINA) – Wooden sculptures Souvenirs shaped of elephants, rhinos, tigers, cats and frogs with serrated dorsal made in Indonesia which are sold in “Sarkisyan” stores, Sochi beach area (40 kilometers from Formula One arena in Russia, attracted tourists.

Embassy delegation in Moscow led by Ambassador Wahid Supriyadi who was in Sochi after watching Rio Haryanto performance took time to stop by at the shop that sells souvenirs from Indonesia, Antara correspondent in London reported, Thursday as quoted by MINA.

The owner of the store, Arthur and Julia (husband and wife) welcomed the delegation. It is because Indonesia is not a foreign country for them. Most of the wood souvenirs in the store come from Indonesia.

Souvenirs from Indonesia are very good sale, especially during summer vacation, said Yulia. “Lombok Wooden masks, for example, many are asking the meaning behind the sinister look. I said, there is no significance whatsoever, merely just creations,” said Yulia.

Yulia husband, Arthur, said that before crisis hit Russia, in a year they could have twice visited to Indonesia, especially in Bali. However, the crisis causes the air ticket to be more expensive. Arthur regretted no direct flight from Moscow to Jakarta.

Ambassador Wahid Supriyadi suggested Arthur and Yulia can sell Indonesian textile products, especially batik. The Ambassador also invited both to attend Indonesia Festival activities that will be held in the park Hermitage Embassy in Moscow, next August 20 to 21. (LP/R03/R04)
