INDONESIA TRAINS AFGHAN POLICE PERSONNEL

Polri - Afghan       Jakarta, 26 Muharram 1434/10 December 2012 (MINA) – Government of Indonesia in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) provides training to 50 members of the Afghan National Police in Indonesia on 10-23 December 2012.

      “This training is part of the realization of the Indonesian Government’s commitment to assist in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Afghanistan by providing capacity building training,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Afghanistan Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Anshory Tadjudin, according to an information made available to Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Monday.

       The police training  will be focused on three areas namely traffic, criminal detectives, and public police.

        Prior to departure to Indonesia, Ambassador Anshory Tadjudin received six representatives of Afghan police trainees and a representative of the UNDP, M. Salim Qayoumi, at the embassy in Kabul, on Wednesday (5/12).

       During the meeting, Ambassadaor Anshory  explained  several aspects on Indonesia, both in terms of political, economic, socio-cultural, geographical, population and  its climate. He also outlined briefly about   the history and structure of the Indonesian police force.

       The Indonesian ambassador expressed his hope that the knowledge gained bt the trainees during the training program will be useful and applicable to Afghanistan.

      One of the representatives of the Afghan police, Bahauddin Durrani, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Indonesia, which has provided training programs for the Afghan police force.

      The training program is expected to enrich the knowledge of the participants as a provision in carrying out their duties in Afghanistan, he said. (T/R-010/R-03/R-006)
