INDONESIA SUPPORT ICC INVESTIGATION OVER ISRAEL CRIMES IN PALESTINE

Jakarta, 28 Rabi’ul Awwal 1436/19 January 2015 (MINA)– The Deputy of Indonesia Foreign Minister, AM Fachir said Indonesian government welcomed the effort of International Criminal Court (ICC) which committed to conduct an investigation over Israeli leaders for war crimes.

“The ICC is an international institution that has good credibility. We will support their efforts,” said Fachir to Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’ reporter at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta, Monday.

International Criminal Court (ICC) has opened an investigation into war crimes committed by Israel in the Palestinian territories, especially during the last Israeli offensive attack on Gaza Strip in July-August last year.

Palestinian media, The Three Dailies reported, the ICC opened a preliminary investigation since last Friday in the Palestinian Territories  that killed more than 2,200 Gazans.

The decision of the ICC judge, Fatou Bensouda came after the submission of Palestine to join the ICC and the acceptance of its jurisdiction over crimes allegedly committed in the Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem since June 13, 2014.

Al-Hayat al-Jadida reported, Palestinians said no one can stop the procedure taken by the ICC in this part. “This is a historic event and we will cooperate with the ICC, providing all information and documents,” said Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki.

Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas also supported the investigation as a positive and important step towards justice and ensure for international law. (L / P010/R03)
