Beirut, MINA – The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon, Hezbollah thwarted an Israeli airborne landing attempt in the Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon early Monday, striking an Israeli helicopter during the ongoing confrontation, Al Mayadeen reports.

According to a statement by Hezbollah, at approximately 00:10 Beirut time, resistance fighters detected 15 Israeli military helicopters approaching from the direction of Syria. The aircraft flew over the eastern mountain range, specifically above the villages of Jenta, Yahfoufa, Nabi Sheet, Arsal, and Ras Baalbek.

Several helicopters reportedly deployed infantry forces in the Serghaya plain, with the unit observed advancing toward Lebanese territory.

Hezbollah fighters immediately confronted both the helicopters and the infiltrating forces using appropriate weapons. The statement indicated that clashes were still ongoing at the time of its release.

According to Al Mayadeen’s report, that an Israeli helicopter was struck as fighters confronted the landing attempt near the eastern Lebanese mountain range.

Lebanon’s National News Agency also reported intense clashes in the al-Shaara area near the outskirts of Nabi Sheet, where resistance fighters were engaging Israeli forces that had carried out a helicopter landing on the heights of the eastern mountain range near the Lebanese-Syrian border.

The agency added that Israeli warplanes and drones were heavily flying over the area while the Israeli force attempted to advance.

Saturday’s thwarted airborne landing attempt near the town of Nabi Sheet marked the first failed infiltration. Israeli helicopters attempting to deploy forces in the area fell into a resistance ambush, triggering intense clashes involving light and medium weapons.
