Sanaa, 12 Dzulqa’dah 1435/7 September 2014 (MINA) – Yemen’s Transition President Abdo Rabbu Mansour Hadi called on Iran on Saturday to reconsider its policies toward Yemen through adopting wise approaches taking into account the interest of the whole people of the country not only a group of them, state media reported.

Hadi reiterated at a meeting with politicians, social and tribal dignitaries that there are regional countries seeking to destabilize Yemen and burn its capital city of Sanaa after Damascus and Baghdad coinciding with escalating protests by Houthi oppotision inside and outside the capital.

He said Yemenis has been living in harmony and without sectarian disagreements for centuries, Yemen Post quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Moreover, he denounced the current acts by Houthis saying their escalation is threatening the national security and public peace.

He put the spotlight on foreign media support to the Houthi Group saying there are four TV stations working in favor of the group.

“The Yemeni people are now very aware of real demands of Houthis. They have rejected the national solution initiative and continue to claim their demands are right,” he said, while adding, “Reforms taken were necessary”.

Since he became the president, Hadi has been accusing Iran of meddling in the country’s affairs through providing all kinds of support to violent groups as the local authorities continued to seize Iranian weapons mostly destined for Houthis.

The Houthi Group, whose loyalists have been surrounding the capital with arms and have rejected an initiative to contain the current crisis, does not deny its links to Iran. Members within the group say their relations with Iran are not wrong and that the Iranian support to them remains political only. (T/P001/P3)
