Former Indonesian President Joko Widodo Questioned by Police Regarding Fake Diplomas

Solo, MINA – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), was questioned at the Solo City Police Resort on Wednesday afternoon.

Jokowi’s questioning at the Solo Police Resort was related to Jokowi’s report to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police regarding alleged defamation in the alleged fake diploma case.

Five people were questioned, namely the initials RS, ES, RS, T and K.

Accompanying Jokowi, Yakub Hasibuan as Jokowi’s attorney said that as a good citizen his client complied with this summons.

“Mr. Jokowi, as a good citizen, complied with the summons from investigators in connection with the police report we submitted to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police,” he said, Wednesday.

Entering the questioning room at around 3:55 PM WIB, Jokowi finally came out at around 6:50 PM WIB. He was questioned for around 2.5 hours.

After being questioned, Jokowi stated that this questioning was a supplementary examination.

“There is an additional examination. For information and explanations, let the legal counsel explain in detail,” said Jokowi.

One of the police questions concerned Jokowi’s studies at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta, including his thesis.

“For example, regarding the writing of his thesis. Mr. Jokowi also explained the process. Investigators will use this information to later submit it to the Prosecutor’s Office,” explained Yakup.

“The process mostly concerns Mr. Jokowi’s studies at UGM. For now, this is just a further in-depth investigation of the questions previously asked,” he continued.

Yakub stated that Jokowi was not the only one being questioned, but also several witnesses in Solo and Yogyakarta. However, he admitted he did not know the identities of the witnesses. []
