Ethiopia Bans Alcoholic Beverages Advertisements

MINA – Since Wednesday April 10, Ethiopian government has banned advertisement of alcoholic beverages to promote healthy living.

Ethiopian Health Minister, Amir Aman said that the ban was part of a healthy lifestyle program initiated in East African countries.

Anadolu Agency (AA) reported, According to Aman, all broadcasting organizations must comply with the ban.

In addition, advertisements in the form of posters or banners related to alcoholic beverages are also prohibited.

In February, Ethiopia imposed a smoking ban near state institutions, health facilities and entertainment centers.

Ethiopia also prohibits sale of alcoholic beverages to those under the age of 21. (T/Sj/R04)
