Abu Dhabi, MINA — On the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, the ERC launched an initiative to pay the debts of 1,700 women, including those who are currently imprisoned in Jordan, WAM reported.

According to this social initiative, which aims to help needy people in Arab and Islamic countries, prisoners covered by the initiative will be immediately released and judicial verdicts against women who cannot pay their debts due to economic reasons will be cancelled.

The directives of Sheikh Hamdan are part of the ERC’s various initiatives for the Year of Zayed, which aim to support Arab and Muslim women.

An ERC delegation went to the Jordanian capital, Amman, to supervise the implementation of Sheikh Hamdan’s directive and coordinate with the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development and other relevant authorities.

Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, ERC Secretary-General, stressed that the directives of Sheikh Hamdan are part of his numerous initiatives and reflect his social vision to support women in debt in Jordan and solve their financial problems.
