EGYPTIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY OFFICIAL: EGYPT WILL BE PEACEFULL THIS FRIDAY

         Jakarta, 22 Shawwal 1434/29 August 2013 (MINA) – The staff of Foreign Ministry of Egypt Prof. Mohammed el-Sayed Selim stated that right now the condition in Egypt is getting condusive and this Friday will be peaceful.

         In his visit to Indonesia for three days, Selim came over to the Indonesian Parliament and met some parliamentary members on Thursday (29/8). He explained the recent situation in Egypt and some policies of Egyptian new government.

        “This Friday, Egypt will be peaceful. The protest begins to calm down and the situation is getting condusive,” he said.

        Selim also assert that Mubarak regime will never come back to lead Egypt. “The former president Hosni Mubarak and his people will never come back to lead Egypt in this new government,” said Selim answering the issues that the Egyptian new government will be back to Mobarak’s era.

       “Egyptian government also let International human right organization to enter the country, monitored and hold a research of the violence in Egypt, especially in Cairo,” added Selim who was accompanied by Egyptian ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Bahaa Dessouki.

        The professor also said that what were done by Egyptian army in managing the protest in Egypt is merely to reduce the chaotic situation due to the act of the demonstrators.

        He denied the report of some media which claimed there are hundreds of thousands people were killed and injured during the protest because of the army response. “ As a matter of fact there are 900 hundred people were killed in all regions of Egypt,” Selim claimed.

       Meanhile, according to Muslim Brotherhood, they claimed that the death toll given by the Health Ministry remains far below figures given by the National Alliance for the Defense of Legitimacy, a coalition of pro-Morsi parties and figures, which has put the number of deaths from the dispersal of the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in alone at some 2,600.

       The Brotherhood put the death toll at a staggering 2,600 and the injured at around 10,000 – figures that are extremely high in light of footage by regional and local TV networks. (L/P04/P012/E1)
