EGYPT RELEASES 13 GAZANS DETAINED IN NOVEMBER

Gaza City, 26 Rabiul Akhir 1435 / 26 February 2014 (MINA) – The Egyptian authorities released 13 Palestinians from Gaza arrested in Cairo three months ago.

Ministry of Interior in Gaza said the Egyptian authorities extradited 13 Palestinians detained in November 2013 near the Palestinian embassy office in Cairo, in addition to a four-year-old child and his father who were arrested 12 days ago.

Dozens of Palestinians are held in the Egyptian prisons on security-related charges, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Recently, the Egyptian authorities named 70 Palestinians in an indictment for interfering in Egyptian affairs and breaking into Egyptian prisons during January 25 revolution in 2011.

However the movement refuted in figures the accusations and condemned them as lies and fabrications. It denied interference in the Egyptian affairs, emphasizing that preserving Egypt’s security is a Palestinian national interest.

Some of the named enlisted in the indictment passed a few years ago, others like Hamas leader Hassan Salameh was sentenced by Israel to life imprisonment in 1996, while nearly a half of the names mentioned has never left outside Gaza.

Eyptian media has launched a defamation campaign against the Gaza Strip and Hamas Movement in particular since the military seized power in July 2013. (T/E01/IR)
