Delta Computer Bug on Second Day Cancels 530 Global Flights

Washington, 07 Dzulqa’dah 1437/10 August 2016 (MINA)  – Global fight cancellations due to a computer glitch continued to hurt US airline Delta for a second day in a row with 530 more flights cancelled on Tuesday, KUNA reported.

“More than 1,600 have departed as the airline works diligently to normalize operations after Monday’s outage,” added the world’s second largest airline in a statement.

On Monday, the airline called off 1,000 flights around the world and experienced hundreds of delays for at least six hours.

The airline is currently “still operating in recovery mode” despite going back online a day prior, said Delta’s Senior Vice President for Operations Dave Holtz.

Holtz said the airline is doing everything it can to return to “normal reliability,” however, he did expect “additional delays and cancellations.”

The airline added that it would be offering compensation to passengers on delayed and cancelled flights. (T/R07/R01)
