Jakarta, MINA – The Aqsa Working Group (AWG), a movement organization dedicated to the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestine, has firmly rejected the presence of PT Ormat Geothermal Indonesia in North Maluku and PT Volex Indonesia in the Riau Islands, considering them affiliated with Zionist Israel.

In a statement numbered 53/B4/SPn/PS-HQ/AWG/IX/1447 received by MINA on Wednesday, AWG Presidium Chairman Muhammad Anshorullah stated that such policies contradict the fundamental principles of the constitution and Indonesia’s consistent foreign policy direction supporting Palestinian independence.

The policy is also considered contrary to President Prabowo Subianto’s political pledge in the Asta Cita vision, mission, and program presented during the 2024 presidential election campaign.

“On page 9, the President promised to build Indonesia’s economy based on the Pancasila Economic Concept consisting of 5 principles. In principle number 2, it states: an economy that upholds humanity,” said Anshorullah.

Therefore, he added, granting investment and operational permits to these two corporations contradicts the economic principle of upholding humanity.

“Furthermore, it can be interpreted as a hypocritical step: fighting Zionist Israeli occupation on one hand, while facilitating the Zionist Israeli economy on the other, whose profits (partially or entirely) are used to strengthen their occupation in Palestine,” AWG wrote.

Anshorullah stated that operating permits granted to PT Ormat Geothermal Indonesia and PT Volex Indonesia could also be interpreted as Indonesia being complicit in the Zionist Israeli occupation of Palestine and even the genocide they are committing in Gaza.

“In this context, any national policy that provides space to Zionist-affiliated entities risks being interpreted as a form of moral, political, and economic inconsistency with Pancasila,” he emphasized.

Following are the points of AWG’s statement rejecting operational permits for Zionist Israel-affiliated companies in Indonesia:

The first, firmly and uncompromisingly reject any granting of operational permits to companies affiliated with Zionist Israel in Indonesia as it contradicts the anti-colonialism principle, damages Indonesia’s diplomatic consistency, and potentially weakens the nation’s international credibility.

The second, urge the government to immediately revoke and cancel all permits already granted to Zionist Israel-affiliated entities, including the PT Ormat Geothermal Indonesia project in Halmahera, North Maluku, and PT Volex Indonesia in the Riau Islands, which are connected to global business networks of figures known to have historical and financial relationships with the Zionist movement.

The third, demand state policy consistency so that Indonesia’s foreign policy principles upholding global justice are not compromised by short-term economic policies that could create strategic contradictions and reputational damage.

The fourth, encourage the government to prioritize alternative investment partners with ethical track records, transparency, and no connection to humanitarian conflicts, ensuring national development proceeds without sacrificing the nation’s moral integrity.

The fifth, warn of potential long-term environmental and social impacts from industrial project expansion in sensitive areas such as Halmahera, including risks of water pollution, ecosystem damage, disruption to local communities, and conflict due to lack of transparency.

The sixth, invite civil society to strengthen public oversight of all strategic state policies to ensure they remain aligned with justice, humanity, environmental sustainability, and national interests.

The seventh, emphasize that support for Palestine is a permanent principle of the Indonesian nation based on the 1945 Constitution, not a situational pragmatic stance, so all state policies must reflect this commitment concretely in both political and economic diplomatic practice.[]
