AT LEAST 50 PEOPLE KILLED IN WAVE OF BOMBINGS ACROSS IRAQ

Baghdad, 28 Shawwal 1434/4 September 2013 (MINA) – At least 50 people have been killed in yet another bloody day in Iraq as a fresh wave of bomb explosions and shooting incidents hits the country.

A series of car bomb blasts ripped through Shia neighborhoods in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, during the evening rush hour on Tuesday, according to one of international TV stations report monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA)

At least 34 people have been killed and dozens more wounded in the explosions.

Earlier in the day, two car bombs detonated on the southern outskirts of Baghdad, killing seven people.

Also in Baghdad, gunmen killed three people and injured four others in separate shooting attacks in two southern neighborhoods.

Meanwhile, the bodies of four other people bearing gunshot wounds were found in different locations across the capital.

Elsewhere, a cleric was shot dead in a breakout of violence reported from the southern city of Basra.

Also on Tuesday, a policeman was killed by a roadside bomb in the northern city of Mosul.

Iraq has experienced a surge in violence in recent months. A new UN report says more than 5,000 people have been killed in the violence-wracked so far this year. (T/P01/E1).
