AL-QASSAM BRIGADES: WE BUILT THE TUNNEL DISCOVERED LATELY BY THE IOF

Gaza City, 17 Dzulhijjah 1434/ 22 Oktober 2013 (MINA) – Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said it had built the tunnel which the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) discovered lately to southeast of the Gaza Strip, pledging to continue its efforts to liberate the Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails.

Spokesman for the Brigades Abu Obeida told Sawt Al-Aqsa radio station over the phone on Sunday that Al-Qassam Brigades takes the credit for building the tunnel.

“Al-Qassam Brigades is diligently working on and below the ground and carving rocks in order to liberate prisoners,” the spokesman stressed.

He affirmed that the Palestinian resistance spearheaded by Al-Qassam Brigades always develops new tactics to confront the occupation and strike it unexpectedly.

The spokesman noted that Al-Qassam Brigades works for the higher national interests of the Palestinian people and will not stop resisting the occupation until all their aspirations are fulfilled.

“The battle against the occupation is managed according to the interests of the Palestinian people, and the peoples aspiring to freedom are able to do a lot,” Abu Obeida said.

Abu Obeida also renewed his Brigades’ vow to maintain the issue of the Palestinian prisoners high on its agenda and use every means variable to extract their freedom.

The IOF declared it had discovered last week a tunnel extending from eastern Gaza to an area adjacent to an Israeli settlement Strip. The tunnel was exceptionally sophisticated and long, measuring approximately 2.8 kilometers. (T/P02/P04)
