AL FATAH RESCUE SENDS VOLUNTEERS TO MT. KELUD AREAS

Surabaya , 15 Rabiul Akhir 1435/15 February  2014 (MINA) – Al – Fatah Search and Rescue ( SAR) Team, Surabaya branch sent volunteers to Kediri Regency which is the worst place affected by Mount Kelud eruption.

On Saturday afternoon, five volunteers drove to Kediri to give aid to the city residents who are suffering due to the Mount Kelud eruption. “All their villages covered by volcanic ash,” said the captain of al Fatah SAR team, Mujahid Abdul Rahman.

Al Fatah SAR team brought assistance in the form of food and clothing to the victims. “We received contributions for these assistance from the residents of Surabaya and its surrounding areas who entrust us to distribute them to the  Kelud victims,” said Abdul Rahman when he called by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA)’s reporter.

“The second Al-Fatah SAR team will be sent Sunday morning,” added Abdul Rahman.

Meanwhile, The Al Fatah SAR supervisor in Surabaya, Muhammad Ghufron said the condition of the visibility in Surabaya itself is dark due to the Kelud ash. “Traffics are paralyzed all day since Friday, some infrastructure requires cleaning and a bit of repairing,” he said.

Al-Fatah SAR team based in Al-Fatah Islamic School, Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java has been actively sending volunteers to some disaster areas, from the Tsunami in Aceh (2005), the earthquake in Padang, Yogyakarta, and Pangandaran (2009), flood in Jakarta, as well as sending volunteers to construct Indonesian hospital in Gaza, Palestine.
