AFGHANISTAN, US AND INDIA HOLD TRILATERAL SUMMIT NEXT MONTH

       Kabul, 7 Syawal 1434/14 Agustus 2013 (MINA) – The next round of trilateral meeting between Afghanistan, India and United States of America is scheduled to be organized next month.

       According to Khaama Press reports monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Officials from the three nations will hold talks on the security situation of Afghanistan beyond 2014, after majority of the NATO combat troops leave the country.

      US Ambassador Nancy J Powell quoted by local media agencies said, “In the continuing trilateral dialogue between India, Afghanistan and the US, the next round will be on the hinges of UN General Assembly in New York in September.”

     The US ambassador termed India’s engagement in AFghanistan as “very important” and said that Washington acknowledges New Delhi’s role in Afghanistan’s future.

      “I would like to acknowledge the important role India plays in Afghanistan’s future, particularly in terms of business.

      Your working with Afghan government is very important and the US appreciates this,” she told reporters in New Delhi.

       She also added that the US and Afghan officials are holding talks on bilateral security agreement between the two nations, which will allow the residual US troops in Afghanistan beyond 2014. (T/P012/E1)
