Erdogan Welcomes Mahathir at Ankara Airport

Ankara, MINA – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu met with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad at Esenboga International Airport in the capital city of Ankara.

President Erdogan welcomed Mahathir’s arrival late on Wednesday, July 24 in Ankara, the visit was at a bilateral invitation to discuss bilateral relations on Friday, July 26.

Mahathir’s official met with Erdogan was held at Thursday at the Presidential Palace, as quoted by Anadolu Agency (MINA)

Both parties discussed bilateral relations in all fields, particularly cooperation in the defense and trade industries.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, Cavusoglu met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah in Ankara.

Mahathir is in Turkey until Saturday 27 July.

“We have discussed strategic partners in Southeast Asia, Malaysian Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah,” Cavusoglu cited in his Twitter account.

Cavusoglu said cooperation in the defense industry with Malaysia would improve economic relations with one of Southeast Asia’s most important trading partners.

On the other hand, Malaysian Ambassador to Turkey Abd Razak Abdul Wahab said the meeting of Mahathir and Erdogan would be delegated at the Turkish Presidential Palace.

Mahathir was accompanied by Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah, Defense Minister Ignatius Darell Leiking, Mohamad Sabu and International Minister of Trade and Industry.

Before Erdogan’s meeting, Mahathir will visit Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), to take a closer look at the Turkish aviation industry.
