Jakarta, 10 Rajab 1436/29 April 2015 (MINA)- Eight of nine drug convicts on death row were executed simultaneously on Wednesday at 00.25 local time on the island of Nusakambangang, off southern Central Java.

The eight drug convicts comprising Andrew Chan, Myuran Sukumaran (Australia), Raheem Agbaje Salami (Nigeria), Zainal Abidin (Indonesia), Rodrigo Gularte (Brazil), Silvester Obiekwe Nwaolise alias Mustofa (Nigeria), Martin Anderson alias Belo (Ghana), and Okwudili Oyatanze (Nigeria).

While the execution of Mary Jane Fiesta Veloso from the Philippines is postponed, Antara News Agency  quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Information obtained in Nusakambangan said that Mary Jane will be sent back to Yogyakarta.

Meanwhile, French citizen Serge Areski Atlaoui has evaded the second round of executions as a judicial review of his case is still ongoing at the State Administrative Court (PTUN).

Spokesman for the Attorney Generals Office (AGO) Tony Tribagus Spontana emphasized here on Monday that the delay in Atlaouis execution was not due to pressure from the French Government.

“It is not because of pressure from the French president,” he affirmed.

Challenging his death sentence, the French national filed a review petition just before the April 23 deadline.

“He registered the review petition in the last minute, just before the deadline ended at 4 p.m. local time, on Thursday, April 23,” Spontana pointed out.

As the AGO respects the legal process, it has decided to exclude Atlaoui from the list of convicts to be executed, he added.

If the PTUN rejects his appeal, he will be executed as planned, the spokesman observed.

On January 18 (first round of execution), five drug convicts were executed on the island of Nusakambangang, earlier on Sunday at 00.40 local time, Cilacap police chief Adj. Sr.Comr. Ulung Sampurna Jaya said.
