OIC MEETING DISCUSS’ PALESTINIAN INDEPENDENCE
Jakarta, 5 Rajab 1436/24 April 2015 (MINA) – The President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that his meeting with the 46 Heads of State / Government and Delegation of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in informal discussions has concluded three main points; supporting Palestinian independence, eliminating terrorism-radicalism and seeking the solution of Middle East crisis.
“OIC members agreed to work together to resolve conflicts in Islamic countries,” said Joko Widodo during a visit to the International Media Center Summit 60 th Asian African Conference Commemoration (AACC) in Jakarta, Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Vice President, Jusuf Kalla submitted plans for the OIC member countries to establish a special team to discuss issues that occurred deeply in various Islamic countries.
The OIC members who attended the meeting agreed that Indonesia needs to take the role to find a solution to these problems.
The next meeting will be held again to determine the mechanism of the special team and states member.
The meeting, initiated by Indonesia, motivated by deep concern over the outbreak of conflicts in some countries in Middle East region. It becomes worsened by the widespread threats from various groups in the name of Islam.
On various occasions, Indonesia has always called on the leaders of the OIC countries the importance of the unity of Muslims around the world in facing the challenges today. Islam is a religion of peace, tolerance and “Rahmatan lil Alamin” (mercy to the world).
Indonesia also always calls for Muslim countries ho have real contribution to the peace and prosperity of the world, and encourage the settlement of conflicts through peaceful ways and dialogue.
Indonesia and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries held a special meeting on the sidelines of the 60th summit meeting Asian-African Conference Commemoration in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), on Wednesday afternoon. (L / P008/R03)
