Cairo, 20 Shawwal 1435/16 August 2014 (MINA) –  Three pro-Morsi protesters were killed and dozens injured in clashes with the police during rallies in the capital on Friday afternoon, following the ongoing rallies held by Anti Coup Alliance Group since two years ago.

According to the security source two protesters were killed in Faysal district and one masked demonstrator, who reportedly possessed explosives, was killed near El-Hawamdeya police station, both in Giza, Egypt’s Ahram reported.

Meanwhile an brotherhood official source at the Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance said,”We are still committed to our peaceful approach, and reject all violence”.

“Military coup authorities are fully responsible for any violence or security chaos, such as this, and which we certainly reject,” the official said.

The alliance made a statement in response to the broadcast by a number of websites of a video recording where masked gunmen in southern Cairo spoke about the adoption of armed violence against the military coup in their neighborhood.

“The Anti-Coup Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance warned repeatedly of reaching this point as a result of coup violence and criminality and the absence of real justice. Currently, the judiciary are being used as a tool to punish honorable Egyptians, especially opponents of the coup,”  he added said.

He added,”The National Alliance will remain committed to the peaceful approach as their strategic choice. The Alliance has nothing to do with that latest development. For religious, political and practical considerations, the Alliance does not condone or justify such a step. The Alliance has seen that revolutionaries are indeed committed to peacefulness and restraint, despite junta terror, violence and the shedding of yet more protesters’ blood.

“Popular protest is the strategy chosen by revolutionaries. It is the right way to defeat the junta, not resorting to armed violence,” the statement ended.(T/P03/P04)
