13 Attacks Reported Against Palestinian Olive Harvesters Across West Bank

WEST BANK, October 27, 2026 (MINA) – Israeli occupation forces and settlers reportedly carried out 13 attacks against Palestinian olive harvesters across four governorates in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, with incidents involving assaults, detentions, crop theft and restrictions on access to agricultural land.

The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission documented the incidents between Tuesday morning and 6 p.m., reporting injuries, damage to vehicles and agricultural property, and attempts to prevent farmers from reaching their olive groves.

The commission also reported the establishment of a new settlement outpost among olive trees, raising concerns about the impact on Palestinian farmers’ access to their land during the annual harvest season.

In Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, Israeli forces and settlers detained dozens of Palestinians and international solidarity activists in eastern Turmus Ayya. Farmers were prevented from reaching olive groves, including land near their homes, and vehicles were reportedly damaged.

In Sinjil, a settler allegedly released livestock onto agricultural land, while residents continued to face restrictions on accessing parts of their property.

In al-Mughayyir, settlers entered farmland belonging to the Abu Shafiq family and conducted patrols near the home of an elderly resident known as Abu Atta. Israeli military bulldozers also continued leveling land in the Sahl al-Rafid area.

In Deir Jarir’s al-Harayiq area, settlers reportedly attacked olive harvesters under Israeli military protection. One Palestinian suffered tear gas inhalation, while an elderly man sustained a deep hand wound. Israeli forces also arrested Anas Shuja’iyya after allegedly assaulting him.

Further attacks were reported near Ein Yabrud, where settlers allegedly attempted to drive farmers from their land and brought livestock into their fields.

In Nablus Governorate, settlers reportedly attacked olive harvesters in Wadi al-Shami, near Asira al-Qibliya, damaging a vehicle and forcing farmers to leave their land.

In Madama, an armed settler allegedly expelled four Palestinian families from farmland in the northern part of the town while they were harvesting olives.

Other incidents were reported in the Khallat Mahra area of Tell, near the Havat Gilad settlement outpost, where settlers allegedly assaulted farmers and stole harvested olives. In Salfit Governorate, settlers reportedly established a new outpost in Wadi al-Ahmar, between Yasuf and Marda, amid agricultural land planted with olive trees. The development has raised concerns about farmers’ ability to continue accessing and cultivating their property.

In the Barta’a area of Jenin Governorate, Israeli forces imposed restrictions that prevented farmers from reaching agricultural land located behind Israel’s separation wall, disrupting their efforts to complete the olive harvest.

The commission warned that attacks during the harvest season were threatening Palestinian agricultural livelihoods and access to land. It said the reported incidents included physical assaults, detentions, crop theft, land leveling and the establishment of settlement outposts.

The commission also expressed concern that restrictions preventing farmers from harvesting olives could cause longer-term economic damage and increase pressure on Palestinian families to abandon agricultural land.

According to figures released by the commission, Israeli forces and settlers carried out approximately 11,074 attacks against Palestinians and their property during the first half of 2026, including 3,488 attributed directly to settlers. It also documented 2,051 attacks against Palestinians, their land and property across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem in September 2026.

The reported incidents highlight the challenges facing Palestinian farmers during the olive harvest, a vital source of income for many families and an important part of Palestinian agricultural and cultural life.
