Jakarta, MINA – Indonesia’s stance on Palestine has never wavered and never will, the country’s top legislative leader declared Friday, as he reaffirmed Jakarta’s steadfast commitment to Palestinian independence and sovereignty.

Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), made the remarks during the 2026 Annual Session at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta.

“On the issue of Palestine, Indonesia’s position has never changed and will not shift,” he said. “Our support for the Palestinian cause is not born out of hostility toward any religion or nation.”

Muzani underscored that Indonesia’s solidarity with Palestine is deeply rooted in the nation’s own colonial past and its constitutional principles. Having endured centuries of foreign domination, he argued, Indonesia cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of others.

He also confirmed that Indonesia will contribute $10 million in humanitarian aid for Gaza at an upcoming donor conference in Cairo, following consultations between President Prabowo Subianto and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa.

Muzani emphasized that Indonesia will remain shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people, supporting their right to self-determination and a dignified existence in their own homeland.

During the same address, Muzani also offered condolences for the passing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and Qatar’s former Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, acknowledging the toll that ongoing conflicts have taken on regional leadership.[]
