Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), together with various Islamic community organizations, strongly condemned the military aggression carried out by the United States and Israel, and called for the reform of the United Nations (UN) to be more just in maintaining world peace.
The call was made during the National Silaturahmi of Islamic Organizations and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H Halal Bihalal event held in Jakarta on Wednesday. During the forum, MUI delivered a statement (taujihat) themed on human unity to realize global justice and peace.
Secretary General of MUI, Amirsyah Tambunan emphasized that Islam teaches living in diversity as a path to piety as well as a foundation for building a peaceful world.
He stressed that acts of violence and murder without legitimate justification constitute serious violations of humanitarian values.

In its statement, MUI also highlighted the importance of humanitarian responsibility (mas’uliyah insaniyah) and global brotherhood (ukhuwah insaniyah) to oppose all forms of colonialism and military aggression.
MUI invited all elements of the nation and the international community to strengthen solidarity in ending armed conflict.
This stance aligns with MUI’s previous statements urging an end to military aggression in the Middle East and encouraging the enforcement of international law against perpetrators of humanitarian violations.
MUI believes that world peace will not be achieved without justice being enforced concretely.

The call for UN reform reflects growing global criticism of the institution’s effectiveness in handling international conflicts, particularly in the Middle East.
Reform is considered essential so that the UN can act more firmly and independently in maintaining world stability and protecting humanitarian rights. []
