Rabat, MINA – Demonstrations erupted across several cities in Morocco on Friday, coinciding with the first day of Eid al-Fitr, as citizens protested the closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
Protests were held in multiple locations, including Rabat, Marrakesh, Meknes, Agadir, M’diq, and Mechra Bel Ksiri, according to reports.
Demonstrators carried images of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Palestinian flags while chanting slogans in support of the Palestinian cause and resistance.
The protests followed a controversial move by Israeli authorities, who prevented Muslims from performing Eid prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday—marking the first such restriction since the occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967.

Despite condemnation from several Arab and Muslim-majority countries, Israeli authorities have continued to restrict access to the mosque.
The site has reportedly remained fully closed to Muslim worshippers since the escalation of tensions following joint U.S.-Israeli military actions against Iran on Feb. 28.[]
