RAFAH CROSSING TO OPEN FOR TWO DAYS: ABU SABHA

       Gaza City, 24 Muharram 1435/28 November 2013 (MINA) – Director General of Crossings and Borders in Gaza, Maher Abu Sabha confirmed on Tuesday  that Rafah Crossing will be opened for two consecutive days this week.

        He said in a statement to Alresalah.ps that ” The crossings scheduled to open on Wednesday and Thursday in front of passengers in both directions from 9:00am until 3:00pm.”

        The Palestinian government in Gaza demanded the Egyptian side on Sunday to open the Rafah Crossing in front of Gaza arrivals and departures, Alresalah.ps quoted by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA) as reporting..

         It stresses that the closure of the crossing aggravates the humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip.

          The Egyptian authorities promised to re- open the Rafah crossing in both directions again, Maher Abu Sabha, said.

         He said on Tuesday “We have received serious promises from Egypt to re- open the Rafah border crossing again in both directions, after it was closed for the fifth day consecutively.” “We have been in contact with the Egyptian authorities, and they promised to ease the movement of the Palestinians,” said Abu Sabha.

         “The Egyptians have not fixed out a specific day for the opening of the crossing, but they promised that it will be soon,” he explained.

         People of the Gaza Strip has been living in a crippling blockade because of the continuous closure of the borders and lack  of fuel since the 30th of June, while warnings mount that the consequences will be disastrous. (T/P02/E1)
