Kuala Lumpur, MINA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the importance of ASEAN unity as a key strength in addressing escalating global tensions.
He delivered this message during the plenary session of the 47th ASEAN Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia, on Sunday.
In his speech before ASEAN leaders, President Prabowo expressed appreciation to the host, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for organizing an exemplary summit.
He also welcomed Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th member, congratulated Thailand’s newly appointed Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, and conveyed condolences on the passing of Queen Mother Sirikit, mother of King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

President Prabowo stressed that unity is not merely a slogan but a core strategy for ASEAN to maintain regional peace and security.
He praised Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership in resolving regional disputes and reaffirmed Indonesia’s readiness to support further steps from the recently achieved ceasefire agreement.
In addition to emphasizing political coordination, Prabowo highlighted the need to strengthen economic integration and digital transformation to enhance ASEAN’s resilience amid rapid global changes. He concluded his speech by calling on all ASEAN leaders to remain courageous, adaptive, and visionary in building a stable, just, and inclusive region.[]
