Tehran, MINA – Iran on Tuesday strongly condemned remarks by US President Donald Trump, accusing Washington of being “the largest sponsor of terrorism” following his comments about Tehran during a speech in Israel’s parliament.
Speaking to the Knesset on Monday before departing for the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt, Trump claimed that Iran was seeking to make a peace deal with the US “even if they said, ‘We don’t want to make a deal.’”
In response, Iran’s Foreign Ministry dismissed Trump’s remarks as “baseless claims,” saying in a statement carried by the state-run IRNA news agency: “The US, as the world’s largest generator of terrorism and supporter of the terrorist and genocidal Zionist regime, has no moral authority to level accusations against others.”
The ministry also criticized Washington’s stance on Iran’s nuclear program, saying: “The repetition of false claims regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear program can in no way justify the joint crimes of the US and the Zionist regime in violating Iran’s soil.”

The statement referred to the June 13 Israeli attack on Tehran, which targeted military, nuclear, and civilian sites, killing several senior commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes, while the US conducted air raids on three Iranian nuclear facilities. The 12-day confrontation ended under a US-brokered ceasefire that began on June 24.
Tehran also called for the US to be held accountable for enabling Israel’s “impunity” in global forums, particularly by blocking UN Security Council actions and international judicial proceedings against alleged Israeli war crimes.
Since October 2023, more than 67,800 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza, most of them women and children, leaving the enclave largely uninhabitable. The first phase of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas took effect on Friday.[]
