FORMER GENERAL ACCUSES AL-SISI MILITIAS OF UNREST IN SINAI
Sinai, 15 Ramadhan 1434/23 July 2013 (MINA) – A former general has accused coup leader General Abdul-Fattah Al-Sisi of running “militias” in false flag operations which are behind the unrest in Sinai.
Speaking to Al-Jazeera Mubasher Misr, retired Brigadier General Sawat Al-Zayyat described what is happening in the unsettled governorate as a “war” carried out by Al-Sisi militias against the Egyptian army under the Al-Qaeda flag.
“However, they are not affiliated to Al-Qaeda,” said the retired general. “They are connected to Al-Sisi’s office in the Defence Ministry and they are dealt with under the name of Jihadists.” The fact is, insisted Al-Zayyat, that Egyptian police and civilians are killed in El-Arish by Al-Sisi’s militias.
General Al-Zayyat pointed out that Al-Sisi has also split the Egyptian army into two camps. The minority camp, he claims, favoured the coup, while the overwhelming majority, representing the military and national leadership, were against it, according to Al Jazeera report monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).
The coup government is trying to pin the blame for the Sinai unrest on the Muslim Brotherhood, he added, for obvious reasons. (T/P01/E1).
