Jakarta, MINA – President Joko Widodo on Wednesday (10/31), officially opened the Indonesia Infrastructure Week (IIW) 2018 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran which will run for three days starting from 31 October to 2 November.
“With this, I declare that Indonesia Infrastructure Week (IIW) 2018 is officially opened,” the President said while beating the drum of the official sign of the opening of the event.
The President hopes that Infrastructure Week 2018 can bring Indonesia to become one of the most dynamic infrastructure markets in the world, so it serves as a venue to introduce domestic construction services businesses to foreign construction services businesses.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Rosan P. Roeslani said that the development of infrastructure development is in line with the Government’s policy to continue to accelerate infrastructure development in order to achieve the set targets.
If we look carefully, the Indonesian construction industry in the last three years has been growing rapidly with the increasing domestic infrastructure.
According to the 2018 World Bank Group report, the competitiveness of Indonesia’s infrastructure in 2018 was ranked 52nd, improving compared to the competitiveness ranking in 2010-2013 which ranged in the 70s.
IIW is the annual agenda of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for Construction and Infrastructure which in 2018 is the sixth time with 200 companies from 30 countries participating..
Based on Kadin’s data, in 2017 the IIW has succeeded in achieving transaction commitments worth 22.7 billion US dollars and this year will focus on seven priority sectors, including Energy, Rail, Port, InterTraffic, SETZ, Water and Infrastructure Security Infrastructure. (L/SJ/RS5)
