OIC Strongly Denounces Kabul Bombing
Jeddah, MINA — The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned as “brutal and sinful” the terrorist attack that hit Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, Thursday.
Kabul has been shaken once again by a violent suicide bomb attack, which claimed at least 29 lives and injured more than 50 people amidst the celebrations to welcome the New Year (Nowruz), KUNA reported, citing the OIC in a statement on Thursday
“The brutal attack came at a time when the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has made unconditional pledge to carry forward an Afghan-led process to bring lasting peace and reconciliation to the country stricken by occupation, war and conflict for nearly half a century.
“The OIC Secretary-General Dr. Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen condemns the attack as a sinful act of violent terrorism,” according to the statement.
“Those who claim they serve the divine cause of Islam by bringing death and devastation to their land are grossly mistaken and bound to fail,” he added.
The Secretary-General underlined that all 57 members of the Organization have unanimously condemned violence and terrorism and expressed determination to combat terrorism in every way. (T/RS5/RS1)
