88 BROTHERHOOD MEMBERS’ DETENTION EXTENDED
Cairo, 9 Dhul Qa’ida 1434/15 September 2013 (MINA) – Egypt Authorities have extended the detention of Muslim Brotherhood leader Sobhi Saleh, along with 87 other members of the group.
The 88 figures will be detained for 15 further days pending investigations into accusation of inciting violence in Sidi Gaber, Alexandria in the aftermath of the 3 July overthrow of Egypt’s freely elected president, Mohamed Morsi.
Other brotherhood members face accusation of killing, membership of a terrorist group, threatening public peace and hampering public transport, Egypt Independent reported as monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA).
Ten youths were meanwhile released on LE1,000 bail pending further investigations, the media added.
Egypt’s interim government security forces arrest the leaders, officials as well as members of the Brotherhood and put accusation of inciting violence in Egypt, including its chairman Mohammed Badie and his deputy Khairat Al-Shater and other officials such as Mohammed Al-Beltagi along with his son, after losing her daughter who has been shot at the peaceful protests mid-August.
Not only that, the government extended Morsi’s detention with their fresh accusation of ‘insulting judges’ deemed unrealistic by supporters Morsi.
Since the coup, Mursi supporters continue protests in Egypt, thousands of people took to the streets throughout Cairo and other governorates in Egypt as a form of their denial of the coup against Egypt’s first president who memorized the Qur’an and demanded his return to office as well as the release of prisoners deemed to have unjustly imprisoned.(T/P03/E1)
