In recent days, forest and land fires in several regions of Riau have also scorched more than 700 hectares. The largest areas were recorded in Indragiri Hulu at approximately 434 hectares and Pelalawan at around 300 hectares, while fire suppression efforts are also underway in Kampar, Siak, and Bengkalis.
The situation has become a serious concern amid the high number of hotspots across Sumatra and the potential for forest and land fires during the dry season. Residents are urged to refrain from activities that could trigger fires and to increase awareness of the impact of haze.[]
