Zulkifli Hasan to Visit Malaysia, Strengthen Diplomatic Ties

Putrajaya, 16 Sya’ban 1437/24 My 2016  (MINA)  – Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (PCA) will visit Malaysia starting tomorrow to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries, particularly the leadership of both nations.

In a statement, Wisma Putra said Head of Indonesian PCA Dr Zulkifli Hasan would lead a 16-member delegation comprising Deputy Heads of PCA and Fraction Leaders of Indonesian political parties to attend the three-day familiarisation visit to Malaysia organized by Malaysia Foreign Ministry, Bernama reported, as quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

“This visit reflects the commitment of both countries to further deepen the long-standing and close bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia,” the statement said.

Wisma Putra said the delegates were scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, as well as a visit to the Parliament and Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.

They will also have a session with chairman of Yayasan Ikatan Rakyat Malaysia-Indonesia (YIRMI) Malaysia, Tan Sri Rais Yatim, and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman is scheduled to host a dinner in honour of the delegates tomorrow, the statement said.

Indonesia is Malaysia’s 7th largest trading partner and the 3rd largest among ASEAN countries.

Total bilateral trade between the two countries stood at RM60.16 billion (USD15.25 billion) last year. (T/R07/R01)
