VP Kalla to Meet Japanese PM Abe to Discuss Investment

Jakarta, 8 Ramadan 1438/3 June 2017 (MINA) – During his Tokyo visit on June 3-6, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, on June 5, will discuss Japan’s commitment to intensifying investment in Indonesia with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Antara News reported, citing the statement of Presidential Team Leader Sofyan Wanandi.

The vice president will meet the invitation of Nikkei, a media corporation in Japan, to be one of the speakers at the 23rd International Forum: Future of Asia meeting on June 5-6, 2017, in Tokyo.

Wanandi stated here on Friday that the meeting is a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Abe during which the vice president will also speak about economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Wanandi remarked that at the meeting, the vice president will emphasize increasing investment in Indonesia’s manufacturing sector, as it absorbs the highest workforce in Indonesia.

In addition to investment, the vice president will discuss organizing education and training programs for Indonesian workers as well as intensifying the transfer of technology by Japanese companies in Indonesia. (T/RS5/RS1)
