US Navy Strikes Iranian Merchant Ship, Violates Ceasefire

Tehran, MINA – The United States has committed a blatant act of aggression against an Iranian merchant vessel in the Sea of ​​Oman, deploying its terrorist marines onto the vessel’s deck and disabling its navigation systems.

The spokesman for the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters on Sunday night condemned the criminal operation by the US Navy.

“The United States, as the aggressor, violated the ceasefire and committed maritime piracy by firing on an Iranian merchant vessel in the Sea of ​​Oman and landing a number of its terrorist marines on the vessel’s deck, disabling its navigation systems,” said Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari, Press TV reported.

“We warn that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will immediately respond to this armed piracy and retaliation by the US forces,” he added.

US forces launched an unprovoked attack on the Iranian container ship Toska, which was sailing peacefully from China to Iran through the Gulf of Oman.
In immediate response, Iranian forces retaliated, targeting several American military vessels in the area with drone strikes.

US President Donald Trump boasted that American forces had seized an Iranian ship, calling the US military “the greatest military power in the world.”

Iran has previously declared a firm retaliation against any hostile action by the United States.

At the same time that Washington announced an illegal naval blockade against Iran, the Islamic Republic completely closed the Strait of Hormuz. Any ship or tanker attempting to pass through the strategic waterway without Iran’s permission will be firmly dealt with by Iranian forces.

Zolfaghari said the latest criminal act by the US regime once again proves that Washington remains the main source of terrorism and instability throughout West Asia.

He emphasized that Iran is fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and national interests and said it will not hesitate to deliver a crushing response to any act of aggression or maritime piracy. []
