UNSC Approves Resolution on Sending Aid to Gaza, Not Ceasefire

New York, MINA – The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in its revised resolution on Friday only mentioned sending urgent humanitarian aid to Gaza, there was no ceasefire point.

Al-Jazeera reported that after several days of tough negotiations led by the United States (US), the UN Security Council did not produce a resolution calling for an immediate end to violence in Gaza by Israeli Zionist forces.

The resolution was finally approved amid strong warnings from international aid groups and pressure from global officials to end the siege on Gaza, whose residents are facing a devastating famine.

Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the UN, Lana Nusseibeh, said at a UNSC meeting in New York, USA, Friday, that the “purpose” of the draft resolution introduced by the UAE was “very simple”.

However, sending aid will only slightly ease the burden on Gazans and will not end their suffering. (T/RE1/P2)
