Beirut, MINA – The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Wednesday that its peacekeepers continue to face restrictions on their freedom of movement while carrying out operations in southern Lebanon, according to Anadolu Agency.
In a statement released on Telegram, UNIFIL said several patrol routes have been blocked by barriers, debris, and other obstacles, temporarily disrupting essential patrols and safety operations.
Despite these challenges, the peacekeeping mission stressed that its personnel remain deployed on the ground to monitor the situation and report observed violations in accordance with the mandate established under UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
UNIFIL also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting stability in southern Lebanon and facilitating humanitarian access, saying its peacekeepers continue to operate despite the operational difficulties.

The statement came days after Beirut and Tel Aviv signed a US-sponsored framework agreement aimed at enabling a phased Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and reducing hostilities along the border.
Since March 2, Israel has continued its military offensive in Lebanon. According to Lebanese authorities, the campaign has killed more than 4,240 people, injured over 12,190 others, and displaced more than one million residents.[]
