UAE President Calls For Rain Prayers

Abu Dhabi, 09 Rabiul Akhir 1438/08 January 2017 (MINA) – President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has called for prayers for rain — Salaat Al Istisqaa — be performed on Tuesday in all mosques and musallahs across the the United of Arab Emirates (UAE).

The prayers will be performed at 7.30am, WAM reported.

Shaikh Khalifa called on Muslims living in the country to pray to Allah for blessing the land with rain, in accordance with the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) to seek rain from Allah.

The UAE is one of 10 countries in the world with the highest rate of drought.

The annual rainfall rate is about 78 mm, about 15 times less than the average figure recorded in Britain. (T/RS05/RS01)
