Jakarta, 22 Jumadil Awwal 1436/13 March 2015 (MINA) – An influential Islamic Scholar from Palimbang Sultan Kudarat, Southern Philippines explained that in the Philippines as long as Muslims behave according to Islamic teachings there is no problem in the society about Islamophobia.

“The Philippines society are educated enough and they know that Muslims here in the Philippines are peace-loving,” Ustadz Wattuea Ibrahim told Mi’raj Islam News Agency ( MINA), in a long distant interview via internet, Friday.

“Philippines Government under President Noynoy Aquino is following the Tuwid na Daan (Straight Path) policy and his Government rejects corruption since the start of his administration,” he said.
He said, the reality is that the administration is working hard to achieve the solution to the problem in the Southern Philippines so that the country will be progressive.

The present situation that erupted in Mamasapano is the rank and file problem that wants the administration to fail in the search for Peace in the Muslim homeland.

Answering a question, Ustadz Wattuea Ibrahim said, “yes, we know the policy of the US is double standard against Islam and Muslims and we observe also like that the Mujaheedin are from their eyes is contrary to our belief.”

If the present situation will continue there will be no progress in the Southern Philippines there is no economic development particularly for the Muslims. No peace no development what so ever, he said.
“Political developments in the Southern Philippines is still to wait and see,” he said.

With regard to the Dakwah, our ulemas (Islamic Scholars) and imams can preach in any place in the Philippines without any obstacles from anyone. Our only problem in the dakwah is that we have no ways and means. Philippine people are open-minded, he explained.

“We only pray to the Most High Allah to protect us from all evil actions. Ameen, walhamdulillahi rabbil alameen”, he added. (T/IBI/P3).
