The Impact of Strikes Against Iran on Palestinian Resistance Movement

WHEN the United States and Israel increase military pressure on Iran, the official narrative is always framed in terms of “regional security,” “nuclear threats,” or “prevention of aggression.”

However, in the geopolitical map of the Middle East, it is difficult to ignore one key question: Does weakening Iran also mean weakening the resilience of the Palestinian resistance?

Iran as a Node in the Chain of Resistance

In the last two decades, Iran has become more than just an ordinary regional country. It has become part of what is often referred to as the axis of resistance, a network of actors that includes Hamas, Hezbollah, and other groups in the region.

Iran’s support for Hamas is not only in the form of funds but also includes rocket technology transfers, military training, drone development, and intelligence support.

This means that if Iran is weakened militarily, economically, or politically, one of the main nodes of the network will be shaken.

In modern military logic, cutting off logistics and technology centers is more effective than just confronting actors in the field.

So far, Israel’s occupation in dealing with Hamas fighters in Gaza has used a pattern of repeated conflict. However, destroying Hamas has proven difficult. Therefore, an alternative approach is to reduce external supplies, limit weapons development capabilities, pressure regional allies, and destroy the collective deterrent power of the network.

In this framework, attacking Iran can be understood as a form of indirect containment strategy against armed Palestine. Not because Palestine is the main target, but because Iran is the backbone of its long-term resilience.

Possible Effects

If the escalation continues, the impact on Palestinian fighters could include logistical disruptions, additional sanctions, sabotage of supply lines, and intelligence pressure that could slow the flow of weapons.

In addition, there will be financial pressure if Iran suffers serious economic damage as a result of the war, and budget priorities could change.

Psychologically, regional deterrence could also weaken. Until now, Israel has had to take into account the response of Iran and Hezbollah if the Gaza conflict spreads. If Iran is perceived as weak, strategic calculations could change.

However, the history of conflict in the Middle East shows that intense pressure often produces two opposing effects: it can weaken resistance networks, but it can also strengthen solidarity and radicalization.

A major attack on Iran could be perceived by some of the Muslim world as a widespread aggression against the region, which would actually increase sympathy for Palestine.

Herein lies the paradox: a strategy of weakening could turn into a catalyst for consolidation.

Then, if Iran is truly weakened in the long term, the regional axis of resistance will lose its center of gravity.

Palestine has the potential to become increasingly isolated militarily, and political negotiations could become even more lopsided. International pressure on Israel could also decrease as regional threats diminish.

In this scenario, Palestine could be pushed into a new phase, one that is more dependent on global diplomacy than on the regional balance of power.

Indeed, US-Israeli strikes on Iran are not always explicitly stated as being intended to weaken Palestine. However, strategically, weakening Iran means weakening the ecosystem of support for Palestinian fighters.

In geopolitics, not all objectives are announced. Some work through a domino effect.

What is clear is that Palestine does not exist in a vacuum. It is connected to a regional network. And any shock to the main nodes of that network will have consequences, whether in the form of weakening, strategic transformation, or even broader consolidation of resistance.[]
