Bangkok, MINA – Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has vowed to continue military action against Cambodia, directly contradicting a claim by former US President Donald Trump that he brokered a ceasefire between the two nations, Anadolu Agency reported.
In a statement on Facebook on Saturday, Anutin asserted that Thailand “will continue to perform military actions until we feel no more harm and threats to our land and people.” This came just hours after Trump posted on his Truth Social platform that the leaders of both countries had agreed to halt fighting and return to a previously brokered peace accord.
Throughout Saturday, both sides exchanged accusations of new attacks. Cambodian state media reported that Thai F-16 fighter jets dropped bombs in Pursat Province. Thai military officials, meanwhile, accused Cambodian forces of firing rockets into civilian areas of Thailand’s Sisaket province, injuring four people.
The renewed clashes have escalated a border conflict that has displaced approximately 700,000 people. The death toll has risen to 23 since Monday, including 11 civilians in Cambodia and nine soldiers and three civilians in Thailand, with over 250 injured.

The two nations had signed a peace deal in Kuala Lumpur in October, witnessed by Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, but the agreement was suspended following a landmine explosion that injured Thai soldiers.[]
