SUDANESE SOLIDARITY DELEGATION ARRIVES IN GAZA

       Gaza, 01 Rabiul Awwal 1434/13 January 2013 (MINA) – A senior Sudanese delegation, led by Presidential Advisor Dr. Qotbi Al-Mahdi, crossed the Rafah border crossing into Gaza Strip Friday evening to offer medical assistance to the Palestinian people, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

      The 38-member delegation include Chief Justice Mohammad Abdul-Fadhil, Chairman of the National Youth Union Bala Youssef and Secretary-General of the Students’ Union Mohammad Abdullah, according to KUNA report monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Saturday.

       They were received at Rafah crossing on the borders with Egypt by Minster of the Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs in the Palestinian Government of Gaza Strip Atallah Abul-Sabh and Advisor to the Prime Minister for Local Institutions Affairs Issa Al-Nashar as well as other officials of the Hamas-led government.

        Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Abul-Sabh highly appreciated the support offered to the Palestinian people, particularly the Gazans, by the government of Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir.

       Al Mahdi, on his part, said the visit to Gaza aims to show solidarity with the people and government of Gaza Strip.

        The delegation are scheduled to visit tomorrow the houses of martyrs Sheikh Ahmad Yassin – the founder of Hamas Movement, and Ahmad Al-Gaabari – the commander of Hamas’s military wing Izz-Eddin Al-Qassam who was assassinated by Israel in last November.

        They will visit the Islamic University of Gaza and meet its leaders before meeting Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh in the evening. They will conclude the trip on Sunday. (T/R-020/R-006)
