SRI LANKA CELEBRATES SRI LANKA DAY IN PALESTINE

       Ramallah, 23 Rabiul Awwal 1434/05 February 2013 (MINA) – The Sri Lanka representative office in Palestine Monday celebrated the 65 anniversary of Independence Day of Sri Lanka in Ramallah in the presence of a number of prominent Palestinian and international figures.

       Head of the Palestinian presidential secretary Hussien al-Araj on behalf of President Mahmoud Abbas praised the strong friendship between Palestine and Sri Lanka.

       Al-Araj expressed appreciation of the positions of solidarity of Sri Lanka to support the legitimate rights of Palestinians in liberty and independence, according to Palestinian news agency, WAFA reports monitored by Mi’raj News Agency (MINA), Tuesday.

      Al-Araj renewed on behalf of Abbas deepest congratulations on Sri Lanka’s independence and wished all Sri Lankans abiding health and prosperity.

      The Representative of Sri Lanka to Palestine, T. Jaysinghe congratulated President Mahmoud Abbas on his relentless struggle on behalf of the people of Palestine to get UN recognition to Palestine and win statehood.

       He pointed out Sri Lanka’s tangible contribution to the Palestinian achievement in mobilizing votes and expressed hope that Palestine will grow and achieve its final goal of establishing its capital in Jerusalem. (T/P015/E1).
