Spanish PM Rules out Negotiations with Catalan Government

Kuwait, MINA – Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has ruled out the possibility of entering negotiations with the Catalan government over the suspended independence declaration.

“There is no mediation possible between democratic law and disobedience, illegality,” he was quoted by KUNA as saying in a speech to the parliament on Wednesday.

He stressed he would not negotiate on anything until “the separatists” abandon their independence drive.

He vowed to do everything in his power to prevent Catalan secession.

Earlier, Rajoy directed an ultimatum to Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont to “answer the calls from so many to return to legality.”

He said his government gave Catalonian leader until next week to clarify whether he intends to push ahead with independence.
