Sabah International Folklore Festival Announced

Kota Kinibalu, Sabah, 11 Ramadan 1437/16 June 2016 (MINA) – Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman Wednesday launched the promotion for the 11th Sabah International Folklore Festival (SIFF) at the compound of Wisma Innoprise in Kota Kinabalu.

Also present were the three deputy chief ministers – Yahya Hussin, Raymond Tan Shu Kiah and Joseph Pairin Kitingan – and Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Masidi Manjun.

The 11th SIFF, with the theme “Warrior”, will be held on July 24 to 30 at the Sabah Cultural Centre, Penampang.

It is organised by the Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry through the Sabah Cultural Board.

Meanwhile, Sabah Cultural Board Chairman Wences Angang, when met by reporters after the event, said 11 countries had confirmed their participation at the festival.

“Although the fee is USD30 per participant, the response from foreign countries is encouraging,” he said.

The countries that have confirmed their participation include Indonesia, Australia, Ireland, India, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Estonia, South Korea and Russia. (T/R07/R01)
